On 5th March 2019, Asun Prats, the Managing Director of MallorcaLeads, was one of four speakers invited to talk at the first MICE Tourism Forum. This influential event was organised by the Diario de Mallorca Club. With the stalls full of professionals from the sector, Prats spoke about the tourism potential for business meetings, incentives, conferences, conventions and events, aimed at de-seasonalising tourist activity on the island.
In addition, she highlighted the growing visibility of Mallorca as a top-level MICE destination. Its capital city Palma is already on the podium of emerging cities in the European sector, along with Bordeaux and Toulouse.
The opening of the Palacio de Congresos in the Balearic capital has been the trigger for change. This notable boom in business was also highlighted by other speakers, among them, president of Mallorca Convention Bureau, Ramón Vidal, the director of Corporate Events of Banco Sabadell, Antonio Rodríguez, and Pedro Homar, managing director of the Palma 365 Tourism Foundation. All agreed, that this level of international relations, will be proactive in consolidating and developing the MICE sector in Mallorca.
